Celebrate Mom

Greetings friends! Here’s hoping you have had a great week. We have been busy bees making waffles and filling brunch box orders for local delivery to help celebrate Mother’s Day. I hope you will take time on Sunday to reflect on the women that have loved, nurtured and guided you and reach out to them if possible. For most of us that is our mother, but motherhood comes in many forms. I was adopted as a baby, so I was blessed with two mothers. I was also surrounded by doting aunts that looked after me as one of their own in my parents absence. There are children that never meet their mother being raised by devoted dads filling both roles. I am so fortunate to have two children of my own, although at 13 and 16 they are more like young adults--but they still very much need me and to me it is an honor to be called Mom by them. I refer to them (lovingly) as Thing 1 and Thing 2, a reference my fellow Seuss fans will enjoy. I hope you enjoy this simple recipe for corn chowder. It varies slightly from my mom’s recipe, but despite the handwritten cookbook I cherish with all of my heart, there was no recipe left behind. Try as I may over the years, it has never tasted as good as I remember hers. If I was driving from Boston back to Maine from college, she’d always ask what I wanted her to make and the first thing I’d ask for was her corn chowder. Such a simple meal but so memorable, it’s like a hug in a bowl. Sending gratitude for this week’s orders. It’s exciting to think Lopaus Point will be a part of some of your holiday mornings this Sunday.  Joyfully obsessed, Stacie Free shipping through Mother's Day (5/10) using code BESTMOM ($9.95 off air)  Mother's Day | Small Batch | Made with ️
